The 2024 Touareg: A Legacy of Performance and Innovation
Volkswagen has unveiled the next generation of the Touareg, its well-established player in the large SUV category. Known for its versatility as a comfortable touring vehicle, competent off-roader, and superior towing platform, the 2024 Touareg continues this tradition with significant updates and added features.
Enhancements in Lighting and Design
Notably, the 2024 Touareg is the first Volkswagen model to debut with the newly developed IQ.Light HD LED matrix headlights, promising a more comfortable night-driving experience through an interactive lighting system. The front and rear ends have been redesigned for a distinct and modern look. Most notably, the LED tail light clusters have been revamped into a light strip featuring a red illuminated Volkswagen logo.
Innovation Leadership
As an innovation pioneer, the Touareg has always been a testing ground for Volkswagen's latest technologies. As the flagship model, it helps set the pace for the rest of the brand's lineup. The integration of over 38,000 interactive LEDs in its new HD LED matrix headlights highlights Volkswagen's commitment to improving safety and comfort for drivers.
Integrated Technological Systems
In addition to the lighting system, the Touareg introduces a new roof load sensor that works in harmony with the vehicle's running gear electronics. This advancement aims to enhance agility and stability, particularly for those drivers who regularly use a roof box. As Jochen Reichel, Head of Driving Dynamics, Steering and Control Systems, emphasized, it's this level of technological fusion that sets the new Touareg apart.
Powertrain Options
The 2024 Touareg will be available in five different powertrain versions, all equipped with 3.0-litre V6 engines. The offerings include one turbocharged petrol engine, two turbodiesel engines, and two plug-in hybrid drives. The top-of-the-line model is the Touareg R eHybrid, which delivers an impressive system output of 462 PS (455.8 HP). All engine options are paired as standard with an eight-speed automatic gearbox and the 4MOTION permanent all-wheel drive system.
Interior and User Experience
Volkswagen has also upgraded the interior of the new Touareg. Its Innovision Cockpit features the latest hardware and software, contributing to an enhanced user experience. The infotainment system now offers high-resolution HD map data and a more advanced voice control system. In addition, the interior features new USB-C connections with a higher charging capacity of 45 watts, allowing for faster charging of devices such as smartphones and laptops.
The IQ.Light HD LED Matrix Headlights
The new IQ.Light HD LED matrix headlights are a highlight of the 2024 Touareg. With the new system, 38,432 micro LEDs are used to cast a more precise and brighter light on the road. Combined with an interactive light carpet and glare-free main beam, these headlights significantly improve night driving comfort and safety.
Enhanced Running Gear
The running gear of the 2024 Touareg is based on a new development level. A roof load sensor, which is integrated closely with the vehicle electronics, can transfer higher transverse forces, thus increasing road agility. Furthermore, both the standard steel spring running gear and optional air suspension running gear have been technically modified to provide greater comfort and agility.
