2013 VW Gol 2-Door
Wolfsburg / São Paulo, 22 October 2012 - On the eve of the São Paulo International Motor Show, Volkswagen AG presented a fascinating range of mobility to over 300 journalists from across the globe. Thomas Schmall, President and CEO von Volkswagen do Brasil, together with Brazilian national player and superstar Neymar, revealed the new Gol as a two-door car in a world premiere. The Gol, of which over seven million units have been produced, has been the undisputed best-selling car in Brazil for the past 25 years. Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles showed the Amarok Canyon in a Brazil premiere. Other automotive stars of the evening in South America: the Audi S8, the new Bentley Continental GT V8, the outstanding Bugatti Grand Sport Vitesse, the new Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4 and the new Porsche 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet. In the heavy commercial vehicle area, MAN Latin America presented the Truck TGX 29.440 and the VW Constellation 6x2 ADVANTECH, plus Scania the R440 6x2 55 Years Special Edition.
In its first Group appearance (“Group Media Night”) of this type on Brazilian soil, Volkswagen AG is underscoring the importance of this South American country. Brazil is the sixth most powerful economy on Earth with a gross domestic product of 2,500 billion US dollars (2011). The German automotive company has been involved in the largest country of South America since 1953 – its approx. 24,000 employees produced over 828,000 vehicles there last year.
