Toyota Corolla Nightshade Edition Returns with Bold Features for 2024
The 2024 model year welcomes back the Toyota Corolla Nightshade Special Edition, adding a unique touch of character to the Corolla Sedan, Hatchback, and for the first time, the Hybrid. This edition, known for its distinctive style, is based on the SE grade and enhances the Corolla lineup with features such as bronze-finished wheels and blacked-out badging.
Corolla Nightshade Design: A Blend of Black Accents and Bronze Finishing
The Nightshade Edition's aesthetic is defined by its blacked-out badging and accents, offering a striking contrast to the bronze-finished 18-inch wheels. The front fascia is dominated by a sport mesh gloss-black grille, accompanied by blacked-out Toyota badges. The side view is equally impressive, showcasing black painted sport side rocker panels and black capped heated power outside mirrors. The rear hosts blacked-out badges, a black shark fin antenna, rear lip spoiler, and a lower diffuser. The Hatchback version goes a step further, sporting a large black Vented Sport Wing and a two-toned roof, adding to its individual appeal.
Corolla Nightshade Performance: Gasoline and Hybrid Options
All Corolla Nightshade models are built on the Toyota New Global Architecture-C platform (TNGA-C), which brings a super-rigid structure and a low center of gravity. This platform, paired with standard Independent MacPherson-type strut front suspension and multi-link rear suspension, ensures optimal handling and ride comfort for all Corolla models.
The Nightshade Hybrid is available in both Front Wheel Drive and electronic on-demand All Wheel Drive options. The AWD variant features a separate rear-mounted electric motor to power the rear wheels when needed. The hybrid model is powered by a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder DOHC 16-valve engine delivering 138 horsepower, combined with two electric motor generators. Its fuel economy is estimated at 47 MPG combined, which translates to around 20 km/l.
For the gasoline Corolla sedan and hatch models sporting the Nightshade style, there's a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder DOHC 16-valve engine producing 169 horsepower under the hood. The sedan model has a manufacturer-estimated rating of 34 MPG combined (approximately 14.5 km/l), and the hatch model has an estimated rating of 35 MPG combined (nearly 15 km/l). These gas-powered models feature Toyota’s standard Dynamic Shift continuously variable transmission, providing a unique performance feel.
Corolla Nightshade Interior: Sport Seats and Premium Audio
Interior features for the 2024 Corolla Nightshade models include Sport seats with fabric inserts, a 4.2-inch color Multi-Information Display (MID) with customizable settings, and Toyota Audio Multimedia with an eight-inch touchscreen. In addition, all models come with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 as standard.
Color options for the Corolla sedan and Hybrid Nightshade Edition include Midnight Black Metallic, Classic Silver Metallic, and Ice Cap. The Hatchback Nightshade Edition offers two-tone paint combinations, such as Windchill Pearl with Midnight Black Metallic Roof, Classic Silver Metallic with Midnight Black Metallic Roof, and solid Midnight Black Metallic. Music enthusiasts may appreciate the available 800-watt JBL® Premium Audio package, while the SE Premium package adds a power tilt/slide moonroof with sliding sunshade, Qi wireless charger, Blind Spot Monitor (BSM), and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA).
