Škoda Elroq Drives Into the Future of Affordable Electric SUVs
Škoda is set to make a significant impact in the electric vehicle market with the introduction of the 2025 Elroq. This new compact electric SUV brings a fresh design language, impressive range, and a host of advanced features, positioning itself as a compelling option in its segment.
Introducing the 2025 Škoda Elroq
The Elroq marks Škoda's entry into the highly competitive compact electric SUV category. Priced starting at approximately €33,000 in Europe before state subsidies, it aims to be one of the most affordable electric vehicles in its class, especially considering its battery capacity and standard equipment. The Elroq offers an array of powertrain and battery options, catering to a wide range of customer needs.
Embracing the Modern Solid Design
As the first production model to adopt Škoda's new Modern Solid design language, the Elroq features a distinctive look that combines robustness and functionality. The front end is dominated by the glossy black Tech-Deck Face, a reinterpretation of the traditional grille that houses essential sensors for driver-assist technologies. Subtle creases and sculpted lines on the bonnet, along with the new Škoda lettering in Unique Dark Chrome, emphasize the brand's modern approach.
Efficient Powertrains and Impressive Range
The Elroq offers three battery sizes: 55 kWh, 63 kWh, and 82 kWh. With outputs ranging from 125 kW to 210 kW*, drivers can choose the configuration that best suits their driving habits. The top-tier Elroq 85 boasts a range of over 580 kilometers (approximately 360 miles) on the WLTP cycle, making it ideal for long-distance journeys. Charging times have been reduced, with the largest battery capable of charging from 10% to 80% in just 28 minutes at rates up to 175 kW.
Spacious Interior with Sustainable Materials
Despite its compact exterior dimensions, the Elroq offers a generous interior space, including a boot capacity of 470 liters, expandable to 1,580 liters with the rear seats folded. The cabin features a minimalist design with clean lines and utilizes sustainable materials throughout. Innovative storage solutions, such as additional compartments in the boot and a storage net for the charging cable under the parcel shelf, enhance practicality.
Advanced Technology and Connectivity
The Elroq comes equipped with a standard 13-inch infotainment display featuring a new user interface for more intuitive operation. A physical button bar provides quick access to essential functions. The latest version of the MyŠkoda app offers extended functionality, including remote vehicle control, integration of the Powerpass for access to over 800,000 charging points across Europe, and the new Predictive Maintenance service. Additionally, the Elroq supports features like Intelligent Park Assist and Remote Park Assist, allowing drivers to control parking maneuvers via their smartphone.
Enhanced Safety Features
Safety is a priority in the Elroq, which offers up to nine airbags and a suite of advanced driver-assistance systems. The comprehensive Travel Assist function integrates Adaptive Lane Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Traffic Jam Assist, Emergency Assist, and Side Assist. The system leverages swarm data from other vehicles for improved predictive capabilities. Features like Front Assist with Predictive Pedestrian and Cyclist Protection further enhance occupant and pedestrian safety.
The Škoda Epiq Concept: A Smaller Sibling
Recently, Škoda unveiled the Epiq Concept, an electric vehicle that will be smaller than the Elroq. The Epiq is set to address the needs of urban drivers seeking a compact electric car without compromising on technology and comfort. By offering both the Elroq and the upcoming Epiq, Škoda is expanding its electric portfolio to cater to a broader range of customers.
An Electric SUV for Everyday Adventures
The 2025 Elroq is designed to be versatile, making it suitable for both city driving and outdoor escapades. With its precise handling, compact dimensions, and a tight turning circle, it navigates urban environments with ease. The upcoming Elroq 85x variant will offer all-wheel drive, further enhancing its capability for off-road adventures.
Paving the Way for Škoda's Electric Future
The introduction of the Elroq marks a significant milestone in Škoda's journey towards electrification. Building on the success of the Enyaq family, the Elroq demonstrates the brand's commitment to offering accessible, sustainable mobility solutions. With its blend of modern design, efficient powertrains, and advanced technologies, the 2025 Škoda Elroq sets a new standard in the compact electric SUV segment.
