Mercedes-Benz GLC (US-Spec)

The all-new Mercedes GLC is here to replace GLK, following new name-changes in the M-Benz SUV lineup. Letter "C" stand for C-class, thus perfectly categorizing itself in the SUV family. Pricing starts at $38,950 for two-wheel drive GLC300, and $40,950 for all-wheel drive GLC300 4MATIC version; prices exclude $925 delivery & destination fees. 2016 GLC300 is powered by two-liter inline-four turbocharged engine, delivering 241 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 273 lb-ft of torque at 1,300-4,000 rpm range. Both 2WD and 4MATIC versions come with new 9-speed automatic transmission.

GLC vs. GLK

Compared to its predecessor, newly redesigned 2016 GLC is significantly larger in dimensions and brings more interior space for passengers and cargo. Despite the bigger size, the GLC is lighter and more fuel efficient than the previous GLK. The all-new GLC also offers increased standard equipment compared to the previous model. The new model also bring more safety to its driver and passengers with a set of standard safety features such as Crosswind Assist, COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST PLUS, and ATTENTION ASSIST.

Standard and Optional Features

In addition to standard safety features listed above, the all-new GLC also offers key-less start, power folding mirrors, driver seat, and tailgate, 7-inch display with rear-view camera, and DYNAMIC SELECT. Among optional safety features are DISTRONIC PLUS with Steering Assist, PRE-SAFE PLUS with Rear-End Collision Prevention, and BAS PLUS with Cross-Traffic Assist. Heated front and rear seats and ventilated front seats are optional.

GLC also offers optional convenient features such as Head-up display, bigger 8.4 COMAND screen, Panoramic sunroof, Illuminated door sills, and AIR BODY CONTROL air suspension system.

Positioning and Competition

2016 GLC is positioned between its smaller sibling, Mercedes-Benz GLA, and its larger bother, the redesigned GLE (Previously M-Class). Targeted competitors are the Audi Q5, Lexus NX, and BMW X3. Compared to its rivals, 2016 GLC is the only SUV that offers electronically controlled adjustable damping with full-support multi-chamber air suspension system.
