This hybrid endurance racing prototype, set to begin testing in a matter of weeks, aims to compete in the Hypercar class of the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship and the GTP class of the IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship Endurance Cup. The SC63 has been conceived to deliver thrilling drives at iconic events like the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the 24 Hours of Daytona, and the 12 Hours of Sebring, among others.
Partnered with the Italian team Iron Lynx, Lamborghini has assembled a cadre of seasoned drivers from the realm of Formula 1 and endurance racing. The race car project embodies the Direzione Cor Tauri strategy set forth in 2021, geared toward the electrification of Lamborghini's entire model range by 2024's end, amplifying driving emotions and performances.
Engine and Aerodynamics: A Game of Precision
The SC63 is armed with a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, a brand new offering crafted specifically for Lamborghini's racing program. The engine sports a unique 'cold V' configuration with the turbos mounted outside the vee angle, which enables efficient cooling and servicing. This placement also lowers the mass, optimizing the car's center of gravity.

The hybrid system and the engine power output are limited to 500kW (680 CV) as per LMDh-category regulations.

While the LMDh regulations specify a standard gearbox, battery, and motor generator unit (MGU), there is still room for customizing the gear ratios and the mechanical differential's slip.
