Jeep enhances the European lineup and introduces in the second half of 2012 new trim lines and limited-edition vehicles for Wrangler, Compass and Grand Cherokee. New Mountain limited-edition model of the iconic Jeep Wrangler pays tribute to performance and outdoor enthusiasts. The significantly positive consumer interest in the Compass and Grand Cherokee concept cars showcased at the latest Geneva Motor Show, confirms production and drives creation of the all-new Jeep Compass Black Edition special-edition model and the S Limited trim line of the brand's flagship.
After the renewal of the entire lineup and the commercial successes recorded in Europe in 2011, Jeep consolidates its product portfolio and introduces a new trim line and two limited-edition vehicles in the European market: the new models were developed to meet the requests of customers looking for unique cars combining a distinctive look with the legendary capabilities of the American brand.
New lineup 'animation vehicles' for Jeep Wrangler, Jeep Compass and Jeep Grand Cherokee will contribute to enhance the Jeep portfolio in Europe in the second half of 2012. New models introduction will further highlight that innovation and stylistic exploration belong to the American brand.
Starting June, Jeep will introduce the new Jeep Wrangler Mountain: showcased in European première at the latest Geneva Motor Show, the new limited-edition model of the iconic Wrangler was engineered for those people who actively practice the outdoors. Jeep Wrangler Mountain will be followed by two all-new Jeep models developed exclusively for Europe: the new limited-edition Jeep Compass Black Edition that will arrive in Jeep dealerships at the end of August and the new S Limited trim line of the brand's flagship Grand Cherokee, debuting in September.
All-new Black Edition and S Limited models combine a variety of exterior design changes to create unique models boasting distinctive, sporty appeal. Confirmation of their introduction in the Jeep lineup is the result of an overwhelmingly positive consumer response received by the Compass and Grand Cherokee production-intent concepts revealed at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
Jeep® Wrangler Mountain: the new special edition-model for outdoor enthusiasts

Jeep Wrangler Mountain is powered by the efficient 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine paired with a six-speed manual and five-speed automatic transmission and the recently introduced 3.6-litre V-6 Pentastar matched to a five-speed automatic gearbox. The new limited-edition model will arrive in European Jeep dealerships in the first half of June in both two- and four-door versions.
Building on the success of the recently introduced Jeep Wrangler Arctic special-series, Jeep launches a new limited-edition model of the iconic Wrangler: the Jeep Wrangler Mountain.
With a unique exterior and interior design enhanced by exclusive styling cues, 17-inch wheels and authentic accessories by Mopar®, the new special-edition model is the vehicle for those who want to stand out in the open spaces. By expressing the endless possibilities of customization of the iconic Wrangler, the new Mountain edition pays tribute to those who actively practice the outdoors. With the 'Mountain' theme recalled by the name of the vehicle, the brand also wants to underline that thanks to benchmark technology and unmatched off-road expertise the iconic Wrangler is capable of overcoming the most demanding trails and the most challenging driving conditions.
Based on the Sport trim line, Jeep Wrangler Mountain will be available on both two-and four-door versions. Exterior features include a unique Black decal on the hood, front Mineral Gray grille and painted high-gloss Mineral Gray 17-inch wheels. Additional features are the 'Mountain' decal over part of the hood with latitude and longitude coordinates familiar to outdoor enthusiasts, side steps and black fuel-filler door from Mopar.
The interior features fabric seats with Slate Grey stitching and embroidered 'Mountain logo'. Mopar treatment in the cabin consists of tread-pattern slush mats and grab handles.
Exterior colors for the new Mountain limited-edition model are the all-new Gecko that joins the Black, Bright White, Dozer and Black Forrest Green already available in the Wrangler lineup.
Introduction in the European markets of the Jeep Wrangler Mountain will start in June. New limited-edition model will be powered by the efficient 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine producing 200 horsepower at 3,600 rpm, 460 Nm of torque at 1,600-2,600 rpm when paired to a five-speed automatic transmission with Electronic Range Select (ERS) and 410 Nm when matched with a six-speed manual gearbox. The new Jeep Wrangler Mountain will also be available with the new 3.6-litre V-6 petrol engine delivering 284 horsepower and 347 Nm of torque, matched to the automatic five-speed transaxle with ERS.
Engineered to master the most challenging off-road tracks, Jeep Wrangler Mountain features an enhanced Dana 30 front axle and Dana 44 rear axle. Legendary Jeep off-road capability is achieved through the standard Command-Trac® NV241 part-time, two-speed transfer case with a 2.72:1 low-range gear ratio.
This 4x4 system operates on three modes: 2WD, 4WD High and 4WD Low. In normal driving conditions, Command-Trac® operates in two wheel drive (2WD) and transfers 100 percent of engine torque to the rear axle. In the 4WD High mode, the system splits the torque with a 50/50 ratio between the two axles. The 4WD High provides more torque and traction on the single axles and is to be used only when driving on slippery surfaces, such as on sand, snow, mud or rocks.
The 4WD Low is ideal when driving on extremely challenging and demanding off-road tracks and provides a 2.72:1 low-range gear ratio that multiplies the engine torque on both axles.
Jeep Wrangler Mountain accomplishes ultimate off-road capabilities through the assistance of standard Hill Descent Control (equipped only with the automatic transmission), for maximum downhill control, and standard Hill Start Assist, which prevents rollback on a graded surface.
The equipment for driver's and passengers' on-board comfort adds to the standard equipment of the Sport trim line a leather-wrapped steering-wheel with integrated controls, Mopar slush floor mats and Mopar grab handles. The optional equipment offers the Dual Top configuration (i.e. the possibility to have both the soft and hardtop options), the Uconnect® multimedia infotainment system and the new Winter & Sound Group package, including front heated seats and premium 368-watt, 6-speaker Infinity audio system.
Jeep Wrangler is the original and authentic 4x4 that expresses the unconventional soul of the American brand by combining exceptional off-road capabilities with the driving enjoyment offered by a unique vehicle in the automotive industry. Undisputed off-road champion, Jeep Wrangler is appreciated worldwide for its outstanding off-road capabilities and its unique personality.
The Jeep Wrangler lineup is available in three trim levels: Sport, Sahara and Rubicon (in some European markets the lineup also offers the limited-edition model Jeep Wrangler Arctic). All are powered by the efficient 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine paired to a five-speed automatic transmission with Electronic Range Select (ERS) and a six-speed manual gearbox and by the recently introduced 3.6-litre V-6 petrol powertrain matched with a five-speed automatic transmission. The same trim lines and powertrains are available on the four-door Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. When matched to the six-speed manual transmission, the 2.8-litre turbo diesel equipped on both Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Wrangler Unlimited features standard fuel-saving Stop/Start technology.
