2019 Chevrolet Malibu: A Fresh Approach to the Midsize Sedan
Chevrolet has unveiled a rejuvenated 2019 Malibu, sporting an array of modifications to the lineup, spearheaded by the novel RS trim. This new iteration of the Malibu not only bolsters the model's market position but also enhances its overall charisma and allure.
Fresh Additions to the 2019 Malibu Lineup
The inauguration of the Malibu RS presents an opportunity for customers to indulge in a more individualized, athletic aesthetic, all starting at a modest price of approximately $25,000. This sporty stance is achieved with a selection of design elements, namely, 18-inch machined wheels, a black sport grille, black bowtie emblems, a rear spoiler, and a dual-outlet exhaust.
Inside, the RS displays a bold personality, featuring a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, black cloth seats, and an 8-inch diagonal color touchscreen integrated with the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 system. With its blend of athletic design and remarkable features, the Malibu RS conveniently fills the gap between the Malibu LS and LT trims.
Drivetrain and Infotainment Improvements
Among the more significant developments across the 2019 Malibu range is the standardization of the 8-inch touchscreen equipped with the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 system. In terms of performance, the 2019 Malibu benefits from a new continuously variable transmission (CVT) coupled to the standard 1.5L Turbo engine. The upper-tier Premier trim retains its 2.0L Turbo engine, mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission.
Design Enhancement: A Nod to Performance
The 2019 Malibu showcases a complete overhaul of the front fascia, grilles, and headlamps, all contributing to a stronger visual presence. The integration of the headlamps with the upper grille and the larger, bolder lower grille emphasizes the car's robust appearance. Furthermore, Premier models enjoy high-performance LED lighting integrated into the headlamps, while new LED signature daytime running lamps grace the LT and Premier models. Such meticulous attention to detail, particularly in the grille and headlamps, supplemented by bold chrome accents, amplifies the Malibu’s premium look.
The rear view of the Malibu has not been neglected, sporting a new valance that extends the dual-exhaust outlets towards the corners, thus enhancing the perceived width of the vehicle. Updated taillamps that incorporate Chevrolet’s signature dual-element design add to the refreshed look, with LT and Premier trims benefiting from LED taillamps.
Additional Updates to the 2019 Malibu
The 2019 Malibu range welcomes several other noteworthy updates. These include a new, standard 8-inch diagonal color touchscreen radio running Chevrolet Infotainment 3, a new 8-inch diagonal reconfigurable driver information center display on the Premier model, and a standard Rear Vision Camera system on the Malibu L model. The Premier model also features standard heated outboard rear seats. New available interior and exterior colors, along with fresh wheel designs in multiple sizes (16-, 17-, and 18-inch) round out the list of additions to the 2019 Malibu.
Slated for sale this fall, the restyled 2019 Malibu joins the refreshed 2019 Cruze and Spark, demonstrating Chevrolet’s commitment to its car portfolio.
