Unveiling the 2016 Chevrolet Impala Midnight Edition: A Shadowy Twist on a Classic
In the glow of the 2014 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Chevrolet revealed plans for a unique spin on the Impala - a shadowy, distinctive variant titled the 'Midnight Edition'. Today, this much-anticipated special edition makes its entrance, looking to cast a long, impressive shadow on the full-size sedan landscape with its sleek and arresting aesthetics.
Drawing Inspiration from the Night
With the first wave of Impala Midnight Editions slated to arrive at dealerships this summer, it's apparent that Chevrolet has thoroughly embraced the dramatic allure of the night. Clad entirely in Jet Black, the Impala Midnight Edition aims to transform the familiar silhouette of the full-size sedan into something more daring and dramatic, a bold departure from the norm.
A Detailed Look into the Midnight Edition
The dark allure of the Midnight Edition is not merely skin-deep. The exterior features include body-colored mirrors echoing the Jet Black theme, 19-inch machine-faced aluminum wheels punctuated with black accents, and a black grille that contributes to the overall striking design. Completing the imposing visage are the black Chevrolet bowtie emblems on both the front and rear, while a black rear spoiler adds a final sporty flourish.
On the inside, Chevrolet has maintained consistency with the overall theme. The Jet Black interior is accentuated by sport pedals, reinforcing the dynamic, performance-oriented vibe of the vehicle.
Versatility in Trim Levels and Pricing
Interestingly, the Midnight Edition package won't be exclusive to just one trim level. Chevrolet is offering the special edition package across 1LT, 2LT, and LTZ trims. This adds a layer of customization and allows customers to opt for the package that best suits their preferences and budget. Pricing for the package varies, starting at $995 and going up to $1,595, over and above the base retail price.
Power Under the Hood
Not one to compromise on performance, Chevrolet offers a choice of two powertrains for the Impala Midnight Edition. Customers can opt for either the standard 2.5L iVLC engine, equipped with start/stop technology, or a more powerful 3.6L V-6 engine, touted as the most potent naturally aspirated engine in the segment.
Availability
The Midnight Edition will mainly be a part of the 2016 Impala lineup. However, Chevrolet has announced plans to produce a limited quantity of 2015 Midnight Editions. These will come in the 2LT trim level and will be equipped with the standard 2.5L engine.
