The Chevrolet Colorado Z71 Trail Boss 3.0 Concept: A Trailblazer in Its Own Right
Chevrolet marked its territory at the SEMA Show with the unveiling of the Colorado Z71 Trail Boss 3.0 Concept, a model designed to conquer off-road terrains while carrying the signature Chevrolet brand aesthetics. This vehicle joined the Silverado 1500 and HD models, illustrating Chevrolet's varied and comprehensive approach to its three-truck lineup.
Meeting the Terrain Head-On
Defined by its rugged charm and intended for adventurous off-road trips, the Colorado Z71 Trail Boss 3.0 Concept takes the concept of conquering the wild to new heights. As noted by Sandor Piszar, Chevrolet Truck Marketing Director, the model is not only built for the challenging terrain but also presents a tough yet stylish exterior.
Power and Versatility
The 2016 Colorado Z71 Trail Boss production model offers extended and crew cab configurations, ensuring users can choose between long and short cargo bed options. In addition to these customizable features, the model comes equipped with an all-new 2.8L Duramax turbo-diesel engine. This upgrade escalates the trailering rating to a commendable 7,700 pounds (approximately 3.5 tons).
Standout Off-Road Features
Further underlining its off-road capabilities, the Z71 Trail Boss Edition incorporates numerous specially-designed features. These range from cargo bed-mounted LED trail lighting and black fender flares to 17-inch black-painted aluminum wheels adorned with Goodyear DuraTrac 265/65R17 all-terrain tires. Front recovery hooks and a 4WD transfer case shield enhance the vehicle's ability to tackle challenging terrains, while the G80 automatic locking rear differential adds a layer of stability during off-road excursions. On the comfort side, all-weather floor mats embellished with the Z71 logo offer utility and style.
An Enhanced Aesthetic
The Trail Boss 3.0 Concept, painted in a daring Red Hot color, extends its aesthetic appeal through new accessory rally stripe graphics and a performance exhaust. Its look is further accentuated by the presence of an illuminated front bowtie emblem in the grille, body-color door handles, and mirror caps. Even the interior gets a touch of customization, with an ambient lighting system and the addition of rubberized floor liners and brushed metal interior trim kit.
Exploring Future Possibilities
While it's true that the Trail Boss provides the versatility and gear-carrying ability needed for off-road adventures, the Trail Boss 3.0 concept aims to take this a step further. Chevrolet continues to explore options for truck personalization, as showcased in this concept model. With more than 20 Chevrolet concept and production vehicles unveiled at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, it's evident that the company is keen on gauging user response and opinion to refine future models and accessories.
