The Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 4MATIC+ is among the most popular luxury SUVs in the world and thus the perfect basis for a new BRABUS supercar! The Bottrop-based automobile manufacturer and refinement specialist presents a fascinating high-performance variant that leaves nothing to be desired: The BRABUS 800.
To this end, the eight-cylinder engine with two turbochargers is fitted with the BRABUS PowerXtra B40S-800 performance upgrade. A new power output of 588 kW / 800 hp (789 bhp) and a peak torque of 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft) give the all-wheel-drive car extraordinarily strong performance. A sprint time from rest to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds makes it just as incomparable in its category as does its electronically limited top speed of 280 km/h (174 mph). This high-end SUV demonstrates its sporty qualities visually as well. The BRABUS designers developed attractively styled and aerodynamically efficient naked-carbon bodywork components, whose looks harmonize perfectly with the new BRABUS Monoblock M "PLATINUM EDITION" hi-tech forged wheels 24 inches in diameter.
The customization of the interior with a BRABUS fine leather interior perfectly finished in every detail is equally exclusive.
The namesake for this SUV in a class of its own is the BRABUS 800 version of the four-liter twin-turbo V8 that powers the new Mercedes-AMG GLS 63. After the conversion, an additional 138 kW / 188 hp (185 bhp) and an extra 150 Nm (111 lb-ft) of torque are at the command of the driver. Two BRABUS special turbochargers with a larger compressor unit and modified core assembly with reinforced axial bearings produce a maximum boost pressure of 1.6 bar. This required reprogramming the electronic boost pressure control for starters. In addition, new mapping for injection and ignition was programmed in the course of extensive test bench runs and long test-drives. The modified software is introduced into the engine control unit by the plug-and-play BRABUS PowerXtra module.

The professional execution of the development, a hallmark of BRABUS, ensures not only significantly increased power delivery, but also flawless durability. BRABUS demonstrates this with the exemplary three-year or 100,000-km/62,000-mile BRABUS Tuning Warranty (see BRABUS Warranty Terms and Conditions, updated July 2013). BRABUS recommends high-performance lubricants from MOTUL.
An output of 588 kW / 800 hp (789 bhp) at 5,900 rpm and the enormous peak torque of 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft) at a low 3,500 rpm enable the BRABUS 800 to deliver performance that is outstanding for a vehicle of this size. The SUV weighing more than 2.6 metric tons sprints from rest to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.8 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 280 km/h (174 mph) due to the high vehicle weight.
Anyone wishing for an acoustic treat to boot opts for the BRABUS quad stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system with actively controlled exhaust flaps. It offers active sound management by enabling the driver to switch between a throaty V8 in ‘Sport’ mode and a subtle whisper in ‘Coming Home’ mode at the touch of button.
It goes without saying that aerodynamics, tires and suspension are also adapted to the tremendous performance potential of the BRABUS 800. The designers of the Bottrop-based refinement specialist developed precise-fitting bodywork components for the top-of-the-range GLS-Class model, which not only give the SUV a sportier appearance, but also are aerodynamically efficient.
For example, the BRABUS front spoiler, which mounts to the lower part of the fascia, gives the SUV an even more distinctive appearance. What is more: Its shape reduces front-axle lift at high speeds, resulting in further improved handling stability. Tailor-made air deflectors upgrade the air intakes in the sides of the front bumper. These BRABUS components are made from naked carbon with a choice of high-gloss or matt sealing. The same is true for the two air intakes in the radiator grille, which is additionally fitted with an illuminated BRABUS emblem and red signature stripes.
Tailor-made BRABUS naked-carbon trim is available to give the wheel arches a sportier appearance. The BRABUS diffuser insert for the rear fascia is produced from the same hi-tech compound. It perfectly showcases the four BRABUS tailpipes with carbon/titanium look. These tailpipes are also available to be combined with the production exhaust system. A BRABUS roof spoiler made of PUR-R-RIM can optionally provide the icing on the cake.
The large wheel wells of the GLS-Class offer just enough space for 24-inch forged wheels. The supercar pictured here runs on newly developed BRABUS Monoblock M "PLATINUM EDITION" hi-tech forged rims of size 10Jx24. Thanks to the use of CAD technology and state-of-the-art manufacturing processes, these wheels offer maximum strength. Their disc design makes them seem even larger than they are. BRABUS technology partner Continental supplies the perfect high-performance tires for them. These low-profile tires are mounted in size 295/35 ZR 24 front and back.
The BRABUS suspension engineers developed a special control module for the AIRMATIC air suspension in order to further optimize the driving dynamics and thanks to a lower ride height give the vehicle sportier looks as well. It lowers the BRABUS 800 or any production GLS 63 by about 25 millimeters (1 in).
Of course, the luxury appointments of the supercar shown here also include an exquisite BRABUS fine leather interior. The huge wealth of expertise of the BRABUS master upholsterers was put to use in creating interior appointments from especially soft and breathable black leather with gray contrasting topstitching matching the black paint finish. The seat surfaces and inner sections of the door panels were quilted in Arrow Wave design with pinpoint precision and additionally perforated equally meticulously. The perforated sections are backed with red fabric to match the red BRABUS highlights on the engine cover and the bodywork, giving the leather appointments a very special touch.
The sporty character of this vehicle is also emphasized with naked-carbon elements on the dashboard and door panels as well as with aluminum pedal and door pins. Special aluminum paddle shifters on the steering wheel in BRABUS RACE design make choosing the right gear even more precise when operating the SPEEDSHIFT nine-speed automatic transmission manually.
The BRABUS 800 is built to order to customer specifications. Alternatively, any GLS 63 can be upgraded to this level all at once or in stages.
