BRABUS Mercedes-Benz G-Class
Performance upgrade for the G 500 to 368 kW / 500 hp and 710 Nm of torque, exclusive BRABUS design for the body, and 23-inch hi-tech forged wheels
The new Mercedes G-Class has arrived and of course BRABUS already offers an exclusive refinement program for the latest evolution of the off-road icon.
With the BRABUS B40 - 500 PowerXtra performance upgrade, the new G 500 produces an output of 368 kW / 500 hp (493 bhp) and 710 Nm (524 lb-ft) of torque. As a result, the off-roader accelerates from rest to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 5.7 seconds.
Tailor-made BRABUS Monoblock wheels including “PLATINUM EDITION” hi-tech forged wheels with a diameter of 23 inches in concert with the strikingly styled BRABUS bodywork components lend the new G-Class an even more extravagant appearance.
The interior likewise leaves nothing to be desired: The company upholstery shop creates exclusive BRABUS fine leather interiors from the finest Mastik leather and Alcantara, which offer endless possibilities in terms of color variety and design variants.
BRABUS offers the most extensive lineup of performance upgrades and increased-displacement engines for Mercedes-Benz automobiles in the world. It goes without saying that concurrent with new G-Class going on sale, BRABUS already has an initial performance upgrade ready for the four-liter eight-cylinder twin-turbo engine of the G 500, which outputs 310 kW / 422 hp (416 bhp) ex-factory.
For this engine, the powerplant engineers of the Bottrop-based refinement specialist developed the new BRABUS B40 - 500 PowerXtra performance kit. At the heart of the modification is a plug-and-play control module that is adapted to the electronic engine control unit of the vehicle. Extensive test cycles on state-of-the-art test benches and on the road as well as in terrain were used to recalibrate the electronic boost pressure control and program optimized mapping for injection and ignition.
2019 BRABUS Mercedes-Benz G-Class
With an increase in power by 58 kW / 78 hp (78 bhp) and a boost in torque by 100 Nm (74 lb-ft), the off-roader adds further dynamic spirit. The new peak output of 368 kW / 500 hp (493 bhp) at 5,600 rpm and the high peak torque of 710 Nm (524 lb-ft), on tap constantly between 2,250 and 4,250 rpm, harmonize perfectly with the nine-speed automatic transmission of the new G 500. If desired, the gears can also be changed manually using the ergonomically shaped aluminum BRABUS paddle shifters on the steering wheel.
Equipped with BRABUS B40 - 500 PowerXtra engine tuning, the G 500 sprints from rest to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 5.7 seconds. The top speed remains electronically limited to 210 km/h (130 mph).
Like all other BRABUS components, this new performance upgrade comes with the three-year or 100,000-km/62,000-mile BRABUS Tuning Warranty (see BRABUS Warranty Terms and Conditions, updated July 2013) unrivalled in this industry. BRABUS exclusively uses hi-tech lubricants from technology partner MOTUL for this off-roader as well.
The BRABUS stainless sport exhaust system with actively controlled flaps and two chrome tailpipes exiting on each vehicle side was designed specifically for the new Mercedes G 500. It offers not only an optimal mix of sound, performance and longevity, but also active control of the exhaust note featuring a discreet “Coming Home” mode and a sport position with particularly powerful V8 engine sound.
Of course, the BRABUS designers also lend the current evolution of the G-Class even more fascinating looks. The BRABUS front fascia attachment gives the production bumper a more striking profile. What is more: The LED side markers integrated on the left and right optimize active safety, as does the sophisticated shape of the bodywork component manufactured from PUR plastic in OEM quality. Its integral spoiler reduces front-axle lift at high speeds with positive effects on the handling stability.
The striking facelift also includes the tailor-made radiator grille, which in addition to the dominant BRABUS double-B at the center also features a BRABUS logotype. When the driver approaches the SUV or someone pulls on the door handle, it lights up in blue, as do the round BRABUS signets on both ends of the front fascia attachment.
The BRABUS lighting concept for the new G-Class also features auxiliary headlamps above the windshield. This naked-carbon module on the roof, which like all components made from this composite material is available with a high-gloss or matte surface finish, is fitted with two powerful lights. When activating the flashers or using the high beams, two sets of twelve high-performance LEDs each optimize the illumination of the roadway.
The striking BRABUS front appearance is rounded off with the hood scoop likewise made from carbon fibers, which not only lends the G-Class an even more characteristic profile, but also optimizes the exchange of cool and hot air in the engine bay.
The new BRABUS rear airfoil lends the off-roader an even more distinctive appearance from the rear as well.
The exclusive BRABUS looks are of course also coined significantly by the BRABUS Monoblock wheels, which were designed specifically for the new G-Class. Customers can choose from various designs and sizes from 20 to 23 inches in diameter. The most exclusive option features BRABUS “PLATINUM EDITION” forged wheels of size 11Jx23. Thanks to being produced using state-of-the-art forging technology, they offer a perfect mix of lightweight construction and tremendous strength. The high-performance tires of size 305/35 R 23 come from the BRABUS technology partners Continental, Pirelli or YOKOHAMA.
In keeping with best tradition, BRABUS naturally also offers a wide range of exclusive interior options for the new G-Class. The product lineup starts with exclusive accessories such as aluminum pedals and scuff plates with backlit BRABUS logo for the passenger cabin and the trunk.
In addition, the company upholstery shop creates exquisite BRABUS fine leather interiors from especially soft and breathable Mastik leather and Alcantara, which are tailored to customer preferences in every detail with regard to color and design. The product range is rounded off by precious-wood components and carbon-fiber elements in a huge variety of variants.
Turning a Mercedes into a movie theater or office on wheels is yet another BRABUS specialty that is also being realized in the new Mercedes G-Class.
