BRABUS 800 based on Mercedes-AMG S 63 4MATIC+
Performance upgrade to 588 kW / 800 hp of peak power and 1,000 Nm peak torque, carbon aerodynamics, 21-inch hi-tech forged wheels and tailor-made interior
BRABUS 800: That is the name of a new and extremely sporty luxury sedan based on the Mercedes S 63 4MATIC+, which BRABUS, the world’s largest independent automotive refinement specialist, presents at the Geneva Motor Show 2018. At the heart of the new supercar is the four-liter twin-turbo V8 with BRABUS performance upgrade, which was developed and tested in the engine development department of BRABUS.
The high-performance engine produces 588 kW / 800 hp (789 bhp) of peak power and a peak torque of 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft), on tap at 3,000 rpm. In combination with the 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system, this engine accelerates the exclusive four-door from rest to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.1 seconds.
To provide a match for the high-performance character of the four-door, the BRABUS designers went into the wind tunnel to develop carbon aerodynamic-enhancement components that not only lend the vehicle an athletic appearance, but also reduce front and rear-axle lift. The BRABUS "PLATINUM EDITION" Monoblock M 21-inch wheels are also as brand-new as the BRABUS 800.
A BRABUS fine leather all-leather interior finished with consummate craftsmanship rounds off the new sport sedan.
The latest Mercedes S 63 is powered by a twin-turbo V8 with a displacement of 3,982 cc. This engine offers great performance reserves, which the BRABUS power unit engineers unleash with their latest performance upgrade. To this end, they used their tremendous expertise from more than 40 years of tuning to develop the custom made performance kit. This conversion comprises two BRABUS high-performance turbochargers with a larger compressor unit and a modified core assembly with reinforced axial bearings. They produce a maximum boost pressure of 1.6 bar.

The engine tuning also comprises a plug-and-play BRABUS PowerXtra module, which is connected to the vehicle’s electronic engine control unit and provides the engine with new mapping for injection and ignition. In addition, this control module also modifies the electronic boost pressure control. This engine conversion produces an extra 138.4 kW / 188 hp (186 bhp) of power and 100 Nm (74 lb-ft) more torque. BRABUS recommends hi-tech lubricants from technology partner MOTUL.
With an output of 588 kW / 800 hp (789 bhp) at 6,700 rpm and a peak torque of 1,000 Nm at 3,600 rpm, the BRABUS 800 accelerates from rest to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.1 seconds. The standard-spec 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive ensures outstanding traction. The nine-speed automatic transmission changes gears automatically or can be shifted manually with the BRABUS RACE aluminum paddle shifters.
The top speed is 300 km/h (186 mph). A BRABUS Vmax module that will permit even higher speeds is already in development.
Of course, BRABUS backs also this performance upgrade for the S 63 4MATIC+ with the exemplary three-year, 100,000-kilometer / 62,000-mile BRABUS Tuning Warranty® (see BRABUS Warranty Terms and Conditions, updated July 2013).
As the ideal complement to the engine tuning or as an attractive upgrade for any standard S 63, BRABUS offers a stainless sport exhaust system with actively controlled exhaust flaps. The driver can select the different options of the electronic sound management in the cockpit and change the exhaust note to suit his taste. There is the subtle “Coming Home” mode, which is quieter than the V8 with the production exhaust. The “Sport” position opens the exhaust flaps in the system. The eight-cylinder then sounds even more thrilling and powerful than in series specification. To match the paint finish of the show car for the Geneva Motor Show 2018, the dual BRABUS tailpipes on the left and right were also painted black.
In line with the high-performance potential of this luxury sedan, the bodywork was also refined with sporty BRABUS components developed for the facelift generation of the S 63. The range of naked-carbon parts with high-gloss coating starts with the BRABUS front spoiler lip and the attachments for the front bumper, which upgrade the production bumper visually. What is more: The fine-tuning of these components in the wind tunnel results in a reduction in front-axle lift, which at high speeds further optimizes the handling stability. It also routes the cooling air even more precisely to the radiators and front brakes.
The carbon design elements on the two front fenders give the BRABUS 800 a more athletic appearance as well. The lights of the integrated BRABUS logos are activated automatically by the Keyless-Go system when the driver approaches the vehicle or by pulling on an inside door handle.
The LEDs on the underside of the BRABUS rocker panels light up at the same time. This underfloor lighting makes it safer to approach the vehicle in the dark and helps to avoid stepping in a pothole or puddle. The stainless scuff plates with BRABUS 800 logo for all four doors also are backlit – optionally with colors changing in sync with the ambient lighting of the interior.
At the rear, the BRABUS naked-carbon diffuser with tailor-made cutouts for the BRABUS sport exhaust and the discreet rear spoiler round off the BRABUS styling concept harmoniously.
Of course, the sporty BRABUS looks also include tailor-made wheels. The new Monoblock M design, which is also introduced on the new BRABUS 800, celebrates its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show 2018. The hi-tech forged wheel of the exclusive "PLATINUM EDITION" thrills with a combination of expansive disc design and ten larger and ten smaller openings, which not only break up the surface, but thanks to their sophisticated design also optimize the venting of the brakes.
On this vehicle, the wheel is shown on one vehicle side in the combination “black-polished.” The other side sports sporty and elegant BRABUS Monoblock F forged cross-spoke wheels of the same sizes, 9Jx21 on the front axle and 10.5Jx21 in the back. The matching high-performance tires of sizes 255/35 ZR 21 at the front and 295/30 ZR 21 on the rear axle come from technology partners Continental, Pirelli or YOKOHAMA.
Other BRABUS Monoblock wheels can be chosen as an alternative. They are available for the Mercedes S-Class with diameters ranging from 18 to 22 inches. To match the ultra-low-profile tires, BRABUS lowers the suspension by about 15 millimeters (.6 inches) with a special control module. This further optimizes the driving dynamics.
Another BRABUS domain is exclusive interior design. The company upholstery shop created an extravagant BRABUS fine leather interior for the show car at the Geneva Motor Show from especially soft and breathable mondial black leather. Blue piping in concert with gray decorative stitching and a sweeping upholstery design on the seats sewn with pinpoint precision emphasize the sporty and luxurious appearance.
BRABUS genuine-carbon elements in the sporty “Chequered Flag” design with matte surface finish replace the production wood trim. The sporty looks in the cockpit also include aluminum components such as the BRABUS RACE paddle shifters, pedals and door pins.
The rear compartment features an equally elegant and functional integrated BRABUS Business center console, which houses a retractable table for each of the individual rear seats.
