A Glimpse into the Future: The 2013 Aston Martin CC100 Speedster Concept

In a stunning testament to progress and innovation, Aston Martin ushered in its centenary with an audacious display of automotive design—the unveiling of the one-off 2013 Aston Martin CC100 Speedster Concept. An amalgamation of nostalgic tribute and prospective transformation, this concept car redefines expectations for future generations.

From Past Glory to Futuristic Ambition

The bespoke 2013 Aston Martin CC100 Speedster pays homage to British brand’s prestigious heritage while daringly hinting at possible trajectories of their design ethos. With distinctive references to legendary DBR1—the pinnacle representation of Aston Martin's racing success—it proudly carries forward the spirit embodied by past triumphs on track.

Making waves on its debut day, May 19th, it exhibited sheer power as it boldly completed a lap around Germany’s renowned Nordschleife during ADAC Zurich 24 Hours race. A highlight was its high-spirited drive alongside the iconic '59 DBR1 driven by stalwart British racing legend Sir Stirling Moss—recalling a thousand kilometers' victory six decades ago.

Brought to Life by Masters

Crafted meticulously under pressure within half-a-year at global quarters in Gaydon—with instrumental support from key supplier Multimatic Inc—this visionary two-seater speedster resulted from collective efforts led by David King, Director Special Projects and Motorsports. Meanwhile, visual aesthetics were shaped thanks to collaborative synergy between Design Director Marek Reichman and Chief Exterior Designer Miles Nurnberger.

Nurnberger candidly shares how balancing adherence towards commemorating hundred years’ brand legacy against signaling forthcoming advancements proved challenging but ultimately fruitful. And yes, there is unequivocal resemblance with ’59 Le Mans and Nürburgring winners, but it's not just a nod to the past—it’s also an ambitious step into the future.

A Design Ahead of its Time

The 2013 CC100 Speedster Concept stretches over four metres in length and is two meters wide (mirrors inclusive), revealing Aston Martin’s Vertical Horizontal engineering philosophy's infinite versatility. Its sleek body and interior are crafted from carbon fibre—courtesy low-volume specialists Multimatic—and harbors AM11 naturally aspirated V12 gasoline engine coupled with six-speed hydraulically automated sequential manual transmission.

Equipped with paddle shifts on steering column for sportingly swift changes perfectly compatible with its track-focused nature, this speedster doesn’t shy away from flaunting superior performance specs—it sprints from rest to 62 mph in slightly above four seconds while capping top speed at limited 180 mph.

A Resounding Ode to Adventure

This avant-garde concept car signals much more than merely celebrating hundred years' illustrious journey of Aston Martin; it manifests adventurous spirit that differentiates them from others. As thousands witnessed this radical spectacle at Nürburgring driven by Dr Ulrich Bez, CEO, Aston Martin: they couldn't help but look forward to an even more exciting era ahead.

With eyes set firmly on horizon, we can expect nothing less than marvels as legacies continue evolving through innovative pursuits. The 2013 Aston Martin CC100 Speedster Concept certainly gives us plenty reasons to anticipate what might lay beyond enduring brand's centenary finish line.
