Acura Integra Type S HRC Concept Unveiled at Monterey Car Week

The Acura Integra Type S HRC Concept made a striking debut at the prestigious Monterey Car Week, hinting at a new era of street and track-focused performance parts from Honda Racing Corporation (HRC). Alongside this concept, Acura also showcased the Performance EV Concept, underscoring its commitment to innovation in both traditional and electric performance vehicles.

Aerodynamic Design and Weight Reduction

The Integra Type S HRC Concept is designed with precision aerodynamics that include a larger front splitter, cooling ducts, hood vents, side splitters, and an adjustable carbon fiber rear wing. These features are not just for show; they enhance downforce and stability at high speeds. The design is further complemented by Indy Yellow Pearl paint—a nod to the second-generation NSX—and custom aluminum HRC badges.

Weight reduction plays a crucial role in this prototype's performance. Extensive use of carbon fiber on components like the hood and rear door panels contributes to shedding nearly 200 lbs. The interior features Recaro bucket seats while replacing the rear seat with a shelf for spare tires adds practicality while maintaining weight savings.

Engine Enhancements and Handling Improvements

Under the hood lies an upgraded 2.0-liter VTEC® engine equipped with a larger intercooler, twin oil coolers, and a tuned cat-back exhaust system—elements inspired by those used in the Integra Type S TCX racecar. This setup promises improved output and response for enthusiasts eager to push limits on both street and track.

The handling dynamics are refined through lowered suspension with tuned coilovers, adjustable anti-roll bars, camber plates, and widened tracks courtesy of 19 x 9.5-inch forged wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires. Brembo® brakes with massive 15-inch rotors ensure that stopping power matches acceleration prowess.

Racing Heritage Meets Modern Innovation

This concept draws heavily from racing heritage while integrating modern innovations. The roll cage inside not only enhances safety but also provides attachment points for harnesses, clearly indicating its track-ready nature. Meanwhile, elements like aerodynamic spoilers emphasize its dual focus on aesthetics and functionality.

A Glimpse into HRC’s Future Endeavors

Honda Racing Corporation has been pivotal in motorsport since its inception in 1982 as Honda's motorcycle racing arm before expanding into auto racing including Formula One programs. With plans to partner with Aston Martin Aramco F1 team as an engine supplier by 2026, HRC continues pushing boundaries across various platforms.
