An In-depth Look at the 2014 AC Schnitzer Range Rover Sport
The 84th Geneva Motor Show, held from the 6th to 16th of March 2014, saw the unveiling of an exciting new development in the Land Rover universe. Known for their adept tuning expertise, AC Schnitzer presented their first fully facelifted Range Rover model: the 3.0L SD V6 Diesel Sport. Previously, AC Schnitzer had offered performance kits for Land Rover models since 2002, but this was their first comprehensive transformation, a fact that undoubtedly stirred anticipation amongst Range Rover tuning enthusiasts.
Pushing the Limits: Performance Boost
AC Schnitzer, hailing from Aachen, set out to push the boundaries of what was expected from the Range Rover Sport. By focusing on amplifying diesel thrust, they aimed to augment acceleration and significantly increase torque. And it seems they were successful, as the Range Rover Sport received a notable performance upgrade from 215 kW / 292 hp / 600 Nm to an impressive 250 kW / 340 hp / 720 Nm.
Efficiency Maintained
Perhaps surprisingly, AC Schnitzer managed to implement this performance enhancement without any increase in CO2 emissions. Thus, the CO2 emissions per hp of the Range Rover Sport have actually decreased, showing that "Efficient Performance" is more than just a tagline for AC Schnitzer.
Exhaust and Aesthetics
The Range Rover Sport's exhaust gas flow was given a boost with the addition of an AC Schnitzer twin silencer of stainless steel, featuring either two "Sports Trim" tailpipes or four "Sport" tailpipes in a right/left combination. This not only optimized performance, but also provided a distinct visual upgrade.
Agility and Control
The AC Schnitzer lowering module played a vital role in enhancing the vehicle's agility. Capable of reducing the height of the Range Rover Sport by up to 50 mm, this innovative feature contributes to a more responsive and nimble driving experience.
Imposing Aerodynamics
AC Schnitzer incorporated several aerodynamic elements into the design to give the Range Rover Sport a powerful, sporty presence and a striking silhouette. This included front and rear skirts with an integrated rear diffuser.
Interior Details
Within the cockpit, the driver will notice refined touches such as the AC Schnitzer keyholder and velours footmats, underlining the company's commitment to detailed craftsmanship.
Rolling on Racing Rims
Finally, the AC Schnitzer Range Rover Sport will sport Type VIII forged racing rims, available in 10.0 x 22 inch or 10.5J x 23 inch configurations, paired with matching tyres (275/40 R 22 or 305/30 R 23 all round) that complement the overall aesthetic.
Looking Ahead: Future Developments
While the 2014 AC Schnitzer Range Rover Sport has made a substantial splash, this is only the beginning. The full range of tuning products will be available by summer 2014, with AC Schnitzer planning to continue developing special accessories and expanding their offerings to other models within the Land Rover marque. It's a thrilling time for Land Rover enthusiasts as they eagerly anticipate what AC Schnitzer has in store for the future.
