The 2014 ABT Audi RS7: A Demonstration of Brawn and Style
ABT Sportsline, the largest tuner of Audis and Volkswagens globally, has taken the powerful and fashionable Audi RS7 under its wing. Traditionally known for their unorthodox vehicular transformations, this time around, they've tinkered with the already impressive RS7, enhancing both its aesthetics and performance capabilities. The result? A car that is now sporting an exposed-carbon spoiler and a significantly bolstered engine.
Boosting the Beast Within
Not settling for the standard 560 horsepower (412 kW), ABT Sportsline has succeeded in amplifying the RS7's power, providing it with a devilish 666 horsepower (490 kW), which the CEO Hans-Jürgen Abt proudly pointed out. In addition to the added horsepower, the torque has been beefed up from 700 to 830 Nm, further empowering the four-door coupé. As a result of these enhancements, the top speed now caps at an electronically limited 300 km/h, a notable improvement from its original performance.
Refining the Engine Control
In their quest to make the car more powerful yet seamlessly operative, ABT Sportsline applied the ABT Engine Control and a bespoke exhaust system branded as Power S "New Generation". This upgrade allowed the RS7's power to be further increased by 25%, translating into 700 hp/515 kW and 880 Nm, with the top speed now elevated to 320 km/h. Hans-Jürgen Abt emphasized that all upgrades were meticulously incorporated with the stand-alone ABT control unit and their proprietary software to fit modern premium engines to their utmost potential.
A Sonic Touch to Match the Power
Equally worthy of note is the optional stainless-steel silencer system, an exclusive addition available with the 700 hp uprating. This particular feature seems to be a nod towards Bavarian traditions of celebrating significant events with vibrant brass music. The silencer system adds a captivating acoustic character that perfectly aligns with the assertive aesthetics of the four-door vehicle.
The Alloy Wheels: Aesthetic Meets Functionality
Complementing the enhanced performance are the ABT wheel spacers and sporty alloy wheels. Two variants are offered: a 20-inch ER-C in a "silver bullet look" and a gunmetal DR available in 21 inches, both coming as attractive sets with suitable high-performance tires. These features not only add to the car's appeal but are also essential in handling the amplified horsepower.
The Grand Finale: A Balance of Power and Style
With the 2014 ABT Audi RS7, ABT Sportsline appears to have struck a harmonious balance between power and style. Their vision was not just about taking an already impressive vehicle and giving it a brute-force upgrade. It was about creating a holistic driving experience, where each added element is thoughtfully selected and intricately intertwined, adding to the vehicle's all-round allure and charm. In an era where power often takes the front seat, ABT's take on the Audi RS7 is a compelling demonstration that horsepower and aesthetics can, and indeed should, coexist harmoniously.
